A Last-Ditch Effort

Needless to say, I wasn’t sleeping. Way down in my heart I knew how bad things were and with each passing day, my terror over it taunted me. I didn’t know what to do. One night I went to the store and bought a bottle of night-time cough syrup. I downed the whole bottle in under five minutes. Nothing happened. I was alive as ever and completely horrified. I had gotten too big for my own good. Not knowing where to turn, I called 911, went to the ladies’ room and my vision blacked out as I shut myself into a stall and fell to the floor.

Karen

A Very well written book. It was good insight into the mind of a bipolar person. Thank you Ruby for being brave enough to share. I pray that God will continue to heal and bless you. A true page turner. Started to read and never put it down until I finished it. Including listening to your song suggestions at the end.

This book gives invaluable insight into the mind and life of someone living with bipolar disorder. The author takes you on a journey, from her early years through present day, weaving together the various moments that have impacted and shaped her life. Her vulnerability and humility draw you in from the first page.

As I read this book, I learned so much about mental illness. I never knew how elaborate of a condition bipolar disorder is. I can see how this book has the potential to greatly help anyone suffering from mental illness with its message of hope in the second half of the story. It’s a great read.
